Sir, - In his interview with Alanna O'Kelly, Luke Clancy is incorrect when he states that, prior to her current exhibition, there was only one previous exhibition by Irish artists at the Sao Paulo Bienal.

In 1985 Mary FitzGerald, Eilis O'Connell, Felim Egan and Anne Carlisle represented the island of Ireland at the Bienal. They were sponsored by Guinness Peat Aviation (remember them?) and the cultural relations committee of the Department of Foreign Affairs. It was a wonderful exhibition of contemporary painting and sculpture. - Yours, etc.,
