Sir, - I concur entirely with Derek O'Connor's positive remarks about TG4's output (TV preview, September 22nd). In particular, I would like to support his view that programmes such as Bia's B≤thar "give a voice to oft neglected corners of the nation".

What I take issue with, however, is his contention that programmes like this are made at a fraction of the cost of "OTT RT╔ promos". Bia's B≤thar, I am proud to say, is an RT╔ commission for TG4. It forms part of a provision of over 180 hours of programmes and 180 hours of news which RT╔ gives to TG4 every year.

Other RT╔ programmes on TG4 which will visit "oft neglected corners of the nation" include Sin ╔, An Tuath Nua, and DY2K. Also included in the RT╔ provision are revoiced animations, documentaries and popular programmes from the archive.

The high production values which RT╔ puts into its promos are also, I hope, evident in all the material we give to TG4. - Yours, etc.,
