Madam, - As a commuter cyclist running the gauntlet through Dublin's south-city rush-hour traffic, I feel I should be depressed rather than impressed by the ability of motorists to read newspapers while simultaneously driving.

Surely the practice of distributing free papers to motorists at traffic lights should be stopped, given that reading and driving must be far more dangerous than telephoning and driving? - Yours, etc,
