Judgment In Jamie Sinnott Case

Sir - I am saddened by the decision of the Supreme Court on the Jamie Sinnott's case

Sir - I am saddened by the decision of the Supreme Court on the Jamie Sinnott's case. It may be the court had no other option but to find in favour of the appeal, but the real shame is with the Government's decision to appeal the High Court ruling. I see this as yet another example of the politicians losing complete touch with the people it claims to represent. I am not proud to be Irish at this point when our Government stoops so low and hurts the most vulnerable in our society.

My heart bleeds for the Sinnott family and the thousands of other families like them in this country. It is time that people show their anger and the best place to do this is in the ballot box. Unfortunately, you are faced with a real dilemma who do you put you're trust in?

Would the Opposition have done the same if it were in power, I think it probably would.

I think that the Government can try to gloss this up whatever way it likes, but it was a shameful decision and I hope the media continue to campaign on this issue. I also believe that its time the four Independent TDs who continually support this Government use their voice. Let us see where they stand or will it be that there are not enough votes in it for them to bother.

The Government will hope that by the end of the summer this issue will have blown away and it will get down to planning its re-election, it is up to those who care to prevent this happening and to keep up the fight for justice for all our citizens. - Yours, etc.,
