Sir, May I refer to the statement of HSEA spokesman Mr Gerard Barry on this dispute (Irish Times, April 19th).
Despite the refusal of the Department of Health to acknowledge our long established pay links with the nurses and our unsuccessful efforts since 1986 to establish our own grade, Mr Barry, in a statement, mentions "negotiations like PCW".
Our union's scheduled PCW negotiations, agreed for August 1996, were cancelled and never rescheduled, despite requests by representatives of our profession. Yours, etc.,
