Sir. - The article on the front page of the Irish Independent on the eve of the election so shocked me that for the first time in my life I actually wrote to a newspaper a strong, three line criticism of the Independent's abuse of media privilege.
Now, I'm a floating voter and I don't think I'm more perceptive or prone to outrage than other people - my point being that the Irish Independent must have received many such letters; yet no word of criticism appeared on its letters page throughout the week.
Is Independent Newspapers, with its disproportionate control of media interests in Ireland, now muzzling the public and feeding us only what information suits its own hidden agenda? - Yours, etc.
