Madam, - Arts organisations throughout the country have suffered dreadfully, some more than others, from the Arts Council's slash-and-burn funding policy.
Yet members of Aosdána have been granted a pay rise, to €20,000 a year.
Can we now expect that, much as politicians deferred their pay-rises some time ago in the face of our economic downturn, members of Aosdána will defer theirs, in solidarity with their less fortunate colleagues who may have lost jobs or other income because of Arts Council policy? - Yours, etc,
