Madam, - It is extraordinary that at a time when there is such a public outrage in Ireland against child abuse, our Government has gestured that it might vote in favour of embryo research in the EU on November 27th next, on behalf of the Irish people.
It seems as if the leaders of our country cannot recognise the humanity of human embryos and see them as being no more than lab mice.
Greater is our shame to consider such a vote since Germany, Austria, Italy and Portugal have already said that they shall vote "no", and one further country is all that is required to prevent the research going ahead.
Who said that Irish taxpayers money could be used for such a purpose, anyhow? - Yours, etc.,
RISTEÁRD DE BHULBH, Cúirt Dhónaill, Baile an Easpaig, Corcaigh.
