Sir, – Instead of expressing concern, Donegal County Council might take positive action to reduce the number of accidents ("Overloading of cars in Donegal a major concern", News, August 21st) by requiring taxis to be available on a rota basis late at night as part of their licensing conditions.
It is impossible to get a taxi in Dungloe and the Rosses after 1am unless you have pre-booked. Revellers, hotel and bar staff struggling to get home to outlying villages resort to cramming into cars, sometimes with tragic consequences. – Yours, etc,
