DESIGNER LABEL PROTESTERS

DONAL COSGRAVE (16),

Sir, - As I read an article on the May Day anti-globalisation protests worldwide and as I glance over the photographs, a little "tick" logo catches the corner of my eye. A closer look reveals that this particular "protester" is wearing designer runners, to be more specific Nike runners. If these protesters were truly anti-globalisationists then they most definitely would not succumb to the demands of such immense international companies, such as Nike, some of whom exploit Third World labourers. If globalisation was non-existent then these trouble-makers might not be wearing such designer gear. As far as I can see (which is usually very far), these young idealists have no sense of reality and are simply a bunch of hooligans whose desire for trouble and a riot is paramount to their desire to protest. I challenge any anti-globalisationist to have never eaten at McDonalds. - Yours, etc., -
