Sir, – I am unemployed and have recently been fortunate in receiving, and starting, a science higher diploma in computing in Griffith College Dublin under the Springboard Programme, which provides part-time education for the unemployed. My prospects and those of everyone in my class can only be enhanced by successfully completing this HDip. I could not have reasonably contemplated going back to college this year without this programme.
I was also offered a number of other places, and I have the impression the uptake of such places is very low.
There are still free places available, and I would encourage anyone eligible for Springboard to go to bluebrick.ie and apply. As the courses are part- time there is no risk of having to choose between a job opportunity and continuing the course. There is no negative side to furthering one’s education at no cost. – Yours, etc,
