Madam, – I see €5 million is to be spent providing Dublin bus stops with electronic display screens that announce bus arrival times (Home News, February 22nd). Am I being overly cynical in suggesting that, between vandalism and poor maintenance, the majority of these expensive gadgets will be out of service within a few months of their introduction? This scheme should be abandoned, and €5 million paid off the national debt instead! – Yours, etc,
