Sir, – I wish to protest at the disgraceful treatment of Canadian citizens, even to the point of freezing bank accounts of those who protest or financially support a democratic protest. Canada is now imprisoning law-abiding citizens, confiscating their money, and invalidating their insurance. Canada’s actions have been criticised by Amnesty International. I hope that the Irish Government pays no St Patrick’s Day courtesies. Ireland should no longer be associated with a country that tramples human rights and abuses its citizens. – Yours, etc,
