Sir, – Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan is quoted as saying: "Each year, some 1,300 people die prematurely in Ireland due to air pollution from solid fuel burning" ("Opposition TD claims move by Ryan will hit families producing turf non-commercially", News, April 11th).
