Sir, I am not xenophobia. I believe strongly in the principle of a united Europe and the removal of national borders. Neither am I paranoid. I do not believe that the "Brits are out to "steal" our sovereignty. However, I strenuously object to the arrogance that underpins the "term "British Isles".
Whether the "Irish Sea" is so called, or is called something else, is irrelevant to the argument we are not aquatic dwellers. I am certain that the French who, I believe, refer to the waters to their north as "La Manche" rather than the "English Channel" would take equal and proper umbrage if their country, or part of it, were to be referred to as the "British Continent". Until all national borders have been removed, I live in Ireland, a separate island on the continental shelf of Europe it is not British.
