Sir, – Today the magnificent Maritime Museum on Moran Park reopens after trojan work by the OPW and volunteers over the past six years.

Within one week, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council will start its crazy Library scheme right next door – which aside from wasting €35 million in public money – will destroy the finest Victorian panorama in the country – stretching from Joyce’s tower in Sandycove to Moran Park.

Since my letter (March 13th) it is now clear that this project does not comply with the Department of Finance Capital Projects Assessment (2005) and the Needs Analysis and the Cost Benefit Analysis has not been revised post September 2008.

The Department of the Environment or Finance should instruct the DLR Co Co to stop this project within seven days.
