Sir, - There are times when I just cannot believe what I read in the newspapers, as on last Saturday when I read page three of my Irish Times. I refer to the report on the Beef Tribunal's outrageous legal costs.
Could it be possible, I asked myself, that a senior member of a learned profession would have uttered such arrogant and insensitive words? My blood pressure must have reached an all time new high, as I read the response given to your reporter: "it is no business of the taxpayer. It is my business and Mr Goodman's business, not your business."
Unlikely that the author of these reported remarks will be in the running for the incorporated Law Society's "PR Person of the Year" award. Think of what happened to poor Marie Antoinette, and all she said was: "Let them eat cake." - Yours, etc.,
