Aftermath Of Nurses' Strike

Sir, - I read with stunned surprise the letter from Dr B. McLoughlin (October 4th). It defies reason how anyone, with 570 points in the Leaving Certificate or not, could be so lacking in tact, diplomacy and interpersonal skills and write such an arrogant and opinionated letter to a newspaper concerning his/her colleagues' level of intelligence, defies reason.

I do not want to hear the good doctor's views on the patients he/ she encounters during the day. Does Dr McLoughlin seriously expect to foster a healthy working relationship with nurses (his/her working colleagues) on foot of comments like these? Perhaps the doctor's arrogant attitude is a consequence of lost sleep or a deep-rooted resentment resulting from having to undertake "routine" tasks normally performed by nurses.

Carry on, Doctor, but not in health care. Do patients and nurses a real favour with your 570 points. - Yours, etc., Gail Dowling,

Barrymore Court, Sallybrook, Glanmire, Co Cork.
