Madam, – Frank McNally’s account of St Fechin praying that the poorer classes would die of plague so that the rich would survive the famine (“An Irishman’s Diary”, January 20th) sounds like a blueprint for Brian Lenihan’s policy of impoverishing the masses so the elite can prosper. – Yours, etc,
