Sir, – In relation to the Minister of State for road safety Sean Canney’s statement that “99 per cent of the people on the roads drive with due care”, your correspondent Nick Royle (Letters, September 23rd) correctly wonders where these roads are.
They are definitely not in Co Kildare, where I notice a proliferation of novice, or N-Plate, drivers rigorously exceeding speed limits, breaking red lights and overtaking at speed on continuous white lines, including carelessly overtaking in residential areas. Have these people actually passed a driver’s test? – Yours, etc.
