Sir – Joanne Hunt (“How a cargo bike can save you a fortune”, Money Matters, April 22nd) outlines the financial benefits of a cargo bike “cheaper to run and maybe faster than a car”.

As a life long cyclist in the city, I can only admire the bravery and foolhardiness of putting kids in a cargo bike and then negotiating the dangerous roads. In the absence of a separate cycle lane network, I wish them safe cycling despite the financial benefits . – Yours, etc,
