Living alone

Caffeine and the sound of silence

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott
The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – When I read Ellen Oliver’s letter on living alone (Letters, January 26th) where she mentioned her 11pm cup of tea, my immediate thought was of John Lennon’s song How Do You Sleep? After all, any sleep guru worth their salt nowadays will tell you: no caffeine after 2pm. – Yours, etc,

BRIAN AHERN,

Clonsilla,

Dublin 15.

Sir, – One of the loneliest points of living alone is closing the door when a visitor leaves and turning back into the empty house. – Yours, etc,

MARGARET BUTLER,

Booterstown,

Dublin.
