Sir, - The recent report of the Ombudsman concerning the treatment of the elderly in need of medical care prompts me to draw attention to the apparent absence here of any effective campaigning body willing and able to take up the cudgels on their behalf, and bring matters raised in the report to the urgent attention of the relevant authority. I was formerly an officeholder, and am currently an honorary life member of, Age Concern, Northern Ireland, an organisation which exists to do just that.
