In the Budget supplement with last Wednesday’s edition an example of the Budget’s effect on pensioners indicated that they do not pay any health levy. Individuals under the age of 70 are normally liable for the health levy unless they are entitled to a medical card or their income falls under the exemption threshold. The illustration related to a pensioner in receipt of a medical card but that was omitted from the text. Also in the Budget supplement, a table on income levy rates said that incomes of less than €15,028 per annum are exempt. This though applies to persons up to the age of 65. For 65 and over the figure is €20,000.

The judge did not order or request that Mr Harnett or any other person be removed from the court.
