GLASGOW - Catholic church leaders in Scotland yesterday renewed their appeal for former Bishop Roderick Wright to come forward. They also announced that from now on they would no longer respond to "speculative" media inquiries.

Cardinal Thomas Winning of Glasgow - complaining of "Gestapo" type early morning visits from reporters - said he was taking the "unprecedented" step because of a media "frenzy" which prevented the church from getting on with its work.
