Gardaí are today attempting to identify a woman whose body was found in a river in Co Roscommon yesterday evening.
The body of the woman, in her fifties, was discovered by fishermen at around 5.00 p.m. in shallow waters in the River Shannon, near where it enters Lough Ree and close to Portrunny.
She is described as being five feet, six inches tall, of average build with shoulder-length greying hair. She was wearing blue tracksuit bottoms and a black top with white trim.
A post-mortem is due later today.
