A woman has been appointed an honorary secretary of the standing committee of the Church of Ireland General Synod for the first time. Brenda Lady Sheil and Canon Paul Colton have been appointed honorary secretaries, subject to ratification by the General Synod next May.
Lady Sheil is a member of the Killinchy parish in the diocese of Down and Dromore, while Canon Colton is rector at Castleknock in Dublin.
