Police have arrested a man following the discovery of weapons and drugs during a search of a house in East Belfast this morning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said two replica handguns, 50 shotgun cartridges, 25 pistol rounds and blank rifle rounds were found in the house in Island Street.

Police also found paramilitary items including clothing and a quantity of unknown white powder and a set of weighing scales.

A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by detectives.
