The 31-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in West Dublin last night has been named as Michael Murphy from Fort Lawn Avenue in Blanchardstown.

The father of two died this morning at the James Connolly Memorial Hospital after being stabbed outside a pub near Blanchardstown shopping centre at around midnight.

Gardaí are continuing to question a 17-year-old youth in connection with incident.

The youth was arrested earlier this morning in the area and he is being held under Section IV of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda station.

Elsewhere, two separate stabbing incidents - one in Arlow, Co Wicklow, the other in Ballymun, north Dublin - are being investigated by gardaí.

A man in his twenties was stabbed in the face and back at Main Street in Arklow at about 3.00 a.m. today. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

In Ballymun, a man (29) was stabbed at Balcurris Road at about 5.00 a.m. He is being treated in hospital.
