MOSCOW - The World Chess Federation championships will be held in two venues, Groeningen in the Netherlands and either Lausanne, Switzerland, or Elista in Russia, the federation's president, Mr Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, announced yesterday.

The tournament will be held from December 16th, 1997, until January 8th, 1998, with Groeningen serving as the venue for the rounds up to the semi-finals.
