Two US soldiers have been killed and another wounded by a roadside bomb in western Baghdad, the US military said today.

The bomb exploded at 9.30 p.m. yesterday (1.30 p.m. Irish time) as the soldiers were passing by in their vehicles, the 1st Armored Division said.

The casualties were evacuated to a combat support hospital for treatment where two soldiers later died.

A total of 372 American soldiers have been killed in combat since US-led forces invaded Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein last March.
