Two men were being questioned by gardaí in Limerick last night about a fatal hit-and-run which claimed the life of a 40-year-old man.

Tom O’Shea from Derryhasna, O’Brien’s Bridge, Co Clare, died after being struck by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mr O’Shea had been socialising in the village of Castleconell and was getting a lift home from a relative when he was knocked down while getting into the car.

The incident happened on the village’s main street at 2.15am and the driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

The vehicle was located a short time later in Castleconnell.

Mr O’Shea, who ran his own car dealing business, was buried yesterday.
