Avalanches killed a woman climber and two rescuers in the Swiss alps and officials said the danger of further snowslides remained high today.

The woman was buried yesterday while climbing an ice wall, and later the same day two rescuers were struck by more avalanches. One died and the second was still missing.

Twelve people were evacuated from a small village near Zinal because of the risk of further snowslides.
