Two men have appeared at a special sitting of Longford District Court on charges relating to an attempted robbery at a business premises in Killoe, Co Longford.

Joseph Bates and Ray Ward, both from Dublin, were refused bail and have been remanded in custody to appear at Longford court on Tuesday next, February 28th.

Joseph Bates (33), Boyne Street, Dublin 2, was charged with entering a building known as Gerry Kennedy Furniture, on February 23rd, 2012, at Kilmoyle, Killoe, Longford as a trespasser, with intent to commit theft contrary to section 12 of the Criminal Justice Act 2001. Garda Hugh Fallon gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

Ray Ward (34), Colthurst Road, Huntingdon Glen, Lucan, Dublin, was charged with the same offence and the unauthorised taking of a vehicle.
