The RTÉ television presenter Mr Duncan Stewart was in hospital in Belarus last night having been involved in an accident during filming on Monday evening. It is not clear how serious his condition is, but members of his family were due to travel to Belarus this morning to be with him.
The presenter, whose shows include Eco Eye and About The House, had travelled to Belarus with a party from Ms Adi Roche's Chernobyl Children's Project.
He was also shooting footage for a proposed programme on nuclear energy.
Mr Steward was filming when he was involved in a fall at Bragin, south east Belarus. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he remained last night.
Mr Duncan's company, Earth Horizon Productions, declined to comment.
A spokesman for the Chernobyl Children's Project said it had had limited contact with the party since the accident because the telephone service in the area is so poor. He said the circumstances surrounding the fall and precise nature of Mr Stewart's injuries are unknown.
