The trial of former Government adviser Phil Flynn on weapons and ammunitions charges was adjourned today following a family bereavement.

Mr Flynn (65) was due to appear before Richmond District Court in Dublin to answer charges of possession of a pen-gun and mini tear gas canisters without a certificate.

The hearing was put back until November 17th after it emerged that a member of the Flynn family had died last Friday.

The charges relate to a raid on Mr Flynn's Dublin offices last February as part of an investigation into the former trade unionist's links to an alleged IRA money laundering operation.
