Toxicology tests after Carlow death

A postmortem on the body of a man found in a hotel room in Carlow yesterday has failed to identify a cause of death.

A postmortem on the body of a man found in a hotel room in Carlow yesterday has failed to identify a cause of death.

Gardaí investigating the death of Colm Kavanagh (44) from Killeshin, Co Laois, are now awaiting toxicology results.

The postmortem was carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis at Naas General Hospital.

The deceased was found at about 1.15pm in a bedroom at a hotel in Carlow town.

Gardaí immediately sealed off the room for technical inspection.

Meanwhile, a postmortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a man recovered from the sea by a fishing trawler at approximately 7pm yesterday.

The body was brought to Skerries harbour and then from there to the city morgue in Dublin.
