A new 150-seat auditorium was opened yesterday at Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital, Finglas, by the Minister for Health, Mr Cowen. The £750,000 facility includes high-tech audio-visual equipment to enhancing the hospital's teaching and lecturing role.

Mr James Colville, chairman of the Cappagh's medical board, announced details of a three-year development plan which includes upgrading the physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hydrotherapy pool services.

The hospital intends to develop a new radiology service with state-of-the-art imaging equipment and a six-bed high dependency unit for post-operative patient care. "We are also keen to develop a wing of the hospital for private patient facilities," said Mr Colville.
