Three people have been arrested following the discovery of heroin with an estimated street value of €600,000 in north Dublin last night.

The three, two men and a woman, were held by detectives from the National Drugs Unit, who raided a flat in Coolock at around 10.00 p.m. and found approximately 5.5 kilos of the drug in a suitcase.

A Dublin man in his 20s and a Dutch couple in their 40s are now being held at Santry Garda Station.

It is believed the drugs originated in Amsterdam, and were destined for the south and west Dublin markets.

Gardaí said the arrests follow an ongoing surveillance operation.
