Iomha Ildanach (right) is a small theatre company with a big reputation and a production history to justify it. In recent years it has made its base in the Crypt, Dublin Castle, and transformed it into an Arts Centre to the benefit of many other small companies seeking a stage for their work. Its latest adventure is Valparaiso, a play by Don DeLillo, noted for his award-winning novels. This had its world premiere last February by the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and this will be the Irish premiere. The title becomes a metaphor for a man's journey towards his own identity, a new stressed-out Everyman with modern problems. It opens next Tuesday.
