One review says of The Ultimate Rush: "This book sings in San Francisco speak of love between a sugar-strung blader and a blue-haired planker who take on crooks, cops and bankers". The blader is Chet Griffin, the sole roller-blading courier of a SF delivery service, and the planker is his skateboarding girlfriend, Ho. One day Chet delivers a disc containing billion-dollar information, but unfortunately for him the envelope containing the disc has already been opened. Soon he is free-wheeling out in front of an assorted bevy of Chinese mafia thugs, angry members of the SFPD, and a posse of hired hitmen, all intent on having him hang up his roller-blades with extreme prejudice. First-time author Quirke manages to maintain a whirlwind pace, and his ultra-smooth use of street lingo exactly suits the needs of his plot. But hold on to your hat as you blast off into instant hyperspeed.
