London - Inspector Morse star John Thaw is responding well to his cancer treatment and is keen to get back to work as soon as possible, his wife Sheila said yesterday.
Thaw announced in June that he was suffering from cancer of the oesophagus.
His wife, who beat breast cancer 13 years ago, said: "John is doing well and has responded well to treatment and wants to get back to work as soon as he is well enough."
