Anti-terrorist officers in Britain have been granted more time to question six men held after raids in four British cities.
It follows police operations in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester in the early hours of Thursday.
A woman arrested in Glasgow with one of the men being detained has been released.
Officers have been searching several addresses in what has been described as a "carefully co-ordinated" operation led by Lothian and Borders Police.
The six men and the woman were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 and are being questioned at Govan police station in Glasgow.
Under the terms of the Terrorism Act, suspects may be detained for up to 48 hours initially and up to seven days if an extension is granted by a sheriff before they must be brought before a court.
Police say an extension was granted by a sheriff in relation to the six men yesterday.
Forensic teams have been analysing items recovered from one of the addresses in Edinburgh.
Lothian and Borders Police said yesterday a number of items had been removed but none appeared to be dangerous.
