South Dublin County Council will take submissions from the public on the future of Riversdale House, the final home in Ireland of W.B. Yeats, in one month's time and until May 28th.

The 18th-century farmhouse in Rathfarnham was saved from demolition at a meeting of the council on Monday night, at which councillors noted an intervention by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera. She has said that the house should be made a protected structure.

The house will have proposed protected status until the planning process is completed on June 13th, when it will be given full protected status. In the interim the house cannot be legally demolished.
