The last of the 10 men whose bodies were exhumed by the Government more than 80 years after their execution by the British authorities during the war of independence, was reburied today.

Patrick Maher, 32 when he was hanged in 1921, was reinterred in his home parish of Glenbrohane, Co Limerick at the request of his family.

The other nine men - including Kevin Barry, one of the best-known casualties of the fight for independence - were reburied last week in Glasnevin cemetery in Dublin.

All 10 were formerly buried in the grounds of Mountjoy jail, where they were executed in 1920 and the following year.
