Christian Ziege's early strike from a free kick and Robbie Keane's cool finish just before the half hour mark, paved the way for a flattering 3-1 scoreline for Tottenham over West Brom, at White Hart Lane today.

Scott Dobie's 73rd-minute strike gave the Baggies brief hope of a rare away point but the visitors were denied soon after whenas Tottenham substitute Gus Poyet sealed the victory with a scrambled third goal 10 minutes from time after Steffen Iversen, forced a parry from Russell Hoult.

Keane looked lively throughout the game and was only denied a second goal when Hoult got down well to get a strong arm on the Dubliner's shot following a Sheringham flick on.

Following a spirited hour of football Albion looked to be running out of ideas when Dobie pulled them back into the game with a lovely strike in the 73rd minute.

Admittedly, Spurs defenders gave him all room he needed to turn with the ball and run at Dean Richards but there was no answer to his powerful low drive which he struck low into the far corner from the inside right channel on the edge of the area.

Spurs immediately sent on Poyet in place of Sheringham to plug the left side of midfield but the Uruguayan did more than that, grabbing the final touch in a crowded goalmouth to make the game safe for Spurs after fellow substitute Iversen's hooked shot was beaten out by Hoult in the 79th minute.
