US rapper Snoop Dogg is among the latest acts confirmed for the Glastonbury music festival this year, in a line-up which organiser Michael Eavis described as "staggering".

The performer, who has been locked in a long battle with Britain's border authorities over entry into the country, will be joined by British rapper Dizzee Rascal and US glam rockers Scissor Sisters at the 40th edition of one of the world's biggest live music events.

Already confirmed for the June 23-27th event are Irish rock band U2 and US singer Stevie Wonder.

"This is it" said Mr Eavis on the festival's website, “the most staggering line up to match the 40-year reputation of the festival”.

U2 will headline on the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 25th and will be joined by acts including Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson.

On Saturday, Muse and Scissor Sisters are among the confirmed acts for the big stage while Wonder is due to be joined by Faithless and Slash on Sunday.

Well over 100,000 people descend on the site in southwest England each year, pitching tents and often braving mud and rain.
