Srinagar - Seven people, including two security force personnel, were killed and eight wounded in separate shoot-outs in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, police said yesterday.

Militant violence in Jammu and Kashmir, which surged after the conclusion of a two-month conflict between India and Pakistan in July, has intensified since the beginning of the country's staggered five-phase elections on September 5th.
