The European Commission has given the all-clear to a new plan for the disposal of low-level radioactive waste from Sellafield at the Drigg Site operated by British Nuclear Fuels. The Commission takes the view that, even in the event of a spillage following an accident, the doses of radioactivity affecting a neighbouring member state, in this case Ireland, would not be significant from a health point of view.
