Schools warn parents over approaches to children

Parents in Co Louth have been warned to be vigilant after a number of children were approached by strangers.

A number of primary schools sent text messages to parents to warn them of the incidents.

Gardaí are investigating two incidents in the south Louth area.

In the first a young boy was called by his name as he played with friends at a playground.

A car, believed to be a black Volkswagen Golf, pulled up beside the recently opened playground in Dunleer.

The second suspicious incident was at Monasterboice where a man in a white van called to a group of children last Sunday afternoon.

As with the earlier incident the children did not respond and instead ran from the van.
